Trust #5 Gottman Ch12/13/14 Appendices JOURNALING PROMPTS

These journaling prompts are meant to stimulate your own private, interior "discussions with yourself."  Your answers are FOR YOUR EYES only.  This is meant as a support to help you deepen your engagement with the material in this week's module. I recommend you read the questions and write on any of them that resonate with you.  Feel free to skip ones that do not resonate with you.

Question 1 of 1

Journal about one of these, some of these, or all of these.  Your choice.

Remember: the purpose of journaling is to use writing on paper as a way to sort out the stuff that floats around in your head.

Your journal is FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

A

Regarding "The story of us" that is in your head ~ would you say you actively work to keep the positive memories strong? If you don't what is keeping you from doing that? Perhaps before your reading and viewing of this week's content you didn't know how important that it is. Now that you do, are you still resistant to building that skill? If your answer is yes, why is that? What frightens you about keeping the positive memories strong?

B

How do you feel about creating the "no negative consequences for saying no" policy in your marriage? Do you believe the science that it is the best way to increase the quantity of sex? If you are skeptical, why is that?

C

If your spouse has some addictive behaviors, what is your reaction to finding out that he/she will be able to pull away from those unhealthy attachments if there is interpersonal connection in the picture? Are you excited to know that? Bothered? Feel blamed? Feel empowered?
